The Ideal 70 system from aluplast has been specified as part of a refurbishment project at Edinburgh’s world renowned zoo.

Manufactured by Windowplus, with installation carried out by Dimension, the windows, doors and escape doors, were fitted as part of a refurbishment of Penguins Café.

Robert Tierney, General Manager, WindowPlus, said: “The order came in from the customer. It was a bit of a coup – you would normally expect a high profile job like this to be picked up by a big retailer because of the exposure that it carries.

“We supplied the Ideal 70, with a U-Value of 1.4W/m2k with Planitherm toughened externally laminated, argon filled units with a 18mm silver spacer. The feedback from job has been very positive.”

The Glasgow-based, trade fabricator became an aluplast manufacturer in early 2015. It employs 20 people making more than 200 frames per week, supplied to installers throughout Scotland.

Specifically developed and designed for the UK market, the German-engineered Ideal 70 and ecotech Ideal 70 systems draw down on aluplast’s investment in research and development, to offer one of the industry’s most energy efficient five chamber PVC-U profiles.

It features an optimum 44mm flush triple-glazed beading option, which contributes to up to a WER A++ rating. Fully integrated hardware and reinforcement, also make it a proven Part Q, PAS24:2012 and Secured by Design system.

“The Ideal 70 is a great system. The area around us is saturated with other systems and selling it gives us a point of differentiation”, said Robert.

He concluded: “It just sells itself. We have just refurbished our factory showroom with aluplast as a single system. It’s used by our customers with homeowners and it just sells as soon as they see it.”
