China sees 1st favorable fiber glass trade balance in decade

China reported a favorable tradebalance of 59.18 million US dollars of fiber glass during the first half of this year, the nation's first trade surplus in the material in more than a decade, according to customs in Chongqing in southwest part of the country.

China has become the second largest fiber glass producer worldwide with an output rising by seven percent annually to the current 500,000 tons.

From January to June this year, China exported 195,000 tons of fiber glass, valued at 280 million US dollars, up 60.2 and 61.4 percent respectively on a yearly basis.

Some 46.3 percent of the country's fiber glass was shipped to the United States, the Republic of Korea and Hong Kong.

Chongqing is one of the six major fiber glass producers in China, so are Beijing and Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province. Enditem
