Chemetall already holds certification to other international quality standards and customer quality systems including ISO 9002 and ISO 14001 but this latest award ensures on-going support to the automotive industry, it's suppliers and sub-contractors. QS-9000 differs from ISO 9002 in its commitment to continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
Chemetall's long term commitment to the automotive industry is demonstrated by the decision to seek to attain this quality standard. QS-9000 was originally developed by some of the major US car manufacturers, and was based on ISO 9000 but tailored to the needs of the automotive industry. It is now widely recognised throughout the automotive industry and some customers now demand registration to QS-9000 for their suppliers.
The auditors were very complimentary about the "professional standard of work" and said; "it was rare to see such good systemisation and traceability". They were also "especially impressed with the paperless system and the way in which all procedures, documents and information have been networked throughout the Company".
The company has a policy of continuous improvement and is now looking at registration to the new ISO 9001: 2000 and TS ISO 16949 standards. This will include an even greater customer focus and a programme of ongoing development of internal processes and systems

Chemetall PLC, has been awarded with accreditation to QS-9000. The speciality chemical company, based in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, supplies surface treatment products to industry.
