Windows and Doors was designed with both beauty and functionality in mind.

When selecting windows for this project, the option to have windows tilt for ventilation and swing open inward for egress and ease of cleaning met the project's requirements of safety and versatility.

The VEKA Euroview 70DS System was chosen for use in the Holy Trinity Elementary School. The system has a 70mm (2-3/4”) frame depth and its thermal properties are achieved by a five-chamber air pocket system in all frame and sashes.

Frame and sash profiles are all steel reinforced to provide the structural strength and decrease the thermal expansion factors inherent in PVC systems.

Unique requirements for the project, and their solutions, included a faux anodized silver waterborne paint system over PVC frame to provide a contemporary look.

This also provided significantly improved thermal performance. The project features laminated safety glass used in impact prone areas such as in the school’s gymnasium.

Builders also installed matching silver spandrel glazing to cover ends of interior office walls, allowing window system to span rooms.

All hardware was provided with a security key lockout feature, providing safety, security and ventilation to occupants.

Maintenance personnel are able to unlock and swing operators into the building for ease of cleaning. Another unique problem was the lack of a convenient space to install a mail slot; therefore, one was cut in the center of sealed unit in the office area, which simply and easily solved the issue.

The school contains 27 tilt and turn windows, which feature roto multi-point hardware and Low-E argon glazing, with a painted anodized aluminum exterior.

The building was designed by CJP Architects and its manufacturer was Westeck Windows and Doors. The school’s construction was completed in April 2011 by Titan Construction.
