Bystronic glass: Sealing Triple Units Without Need To Change The Nozzle

The Bystronic glass group has produced several sealing robots equipped with a longitudinally divided run-in conveyor.

This conveyor makes it possible to support all three glass plates of a triple insulating glass unit by sealing it with a universal nozzle for double insulating glass units in two passes.

The run-in conveyor of the sealing robot can be moved horizontally and also provides support for the intermediate glass plate without touching the fresh sealant. The model for this innovation was the conveyor from the quadruple insulating glass unit sealing robot.

Here, a divided run-in conveyor has been successfully implemented for some time now. For day-to-day production, using movable conveyors provides many advantages. "We developed this technology for all customers who produce a combination of double and triple units," Dr. Christian Daniel, Engineering Manager at Bystronic Lenhardt GmbH, explains: "The product range has changed significantly over the last few years. There is an increased demand for triple insulating glass units with asymmetrical designs."

Additionally, via the horizontally divided conveyor, triple insulating glass units can be sealed at two different spacer widths without the need to change the nozzle and which will still provide the best possible quality.

For customers with a high proportion of triple insulating glass units that are sym-metrically structured, the tried-and-tested solution of a three-angle nozzle for sealing in a single pass is still recommended.
