Commenting on his re-election David Workman said, "I am delighted and very honoured that my contemporaries from around Europe have seen fit to re elect me to this important post.
“I have the utmost admiration for the work undertaken by the CPIV Secretariat in Brussels on behalf of the European Glass Manufacturers. Indeed, the workload seems to expand on a daily basis and I hope to be able to assist in any way I can in the demanding role of attempting to represent our industry’s interests.”
CPIV plays a major role in representing the interests of the European Glass Industry at EU Commission and EU Parliament level and produces briefing papers on all the major legislative issues.
Significant successes have been achieved in many areas over the last few years, for instance, energy tax, IPPC and the glass BREF, chemicals policy and the issue of lead – which have saved the industry £10m.
British Glass Director General Re-Elected President of CPIV
David Workman, Director General of the British Glass Manufacturers’ Confederation, was re-elected President of CPIV, the Brussels-based European Glass Manufacturers’ umbrella body, for a second two-year term at its General Assembly on 15 May 2007.
