Boulting Control Panels For Glass Coating Line

In April 2011 the Client, a leading glass manufacturer with interests in both the Building and Automotive industries, announced investment plans for an off-line coating facility at it's St.

Helens manufacturing unit.



The coating line, which will become operational in October 2012, will enable the company to provide customers with high-performance, low emissivity glazing products - complementing its well-established and widely-used thermal glass and solar control glass.  As part of the extension Boulting will provide control panels that will power and control the new coating line.



Project Scope, Services and Deliverables


Awarded in January 2012, the woks will take five month to complete with Client expecting delivery and installation by the end of May.  Contracted services include, detailed Engineering and Design, Build, Installation and assistance with Commissioning.  The Power and Control team will deliver the following equipment:


  • 1 x Natural Cooled Cast Resin Transformers

  • 1 x 3,200A Withdrawable Incoming ACB

  • 9 x Various Plug In MCCBs

  • 4 x 110kw VSD Drives




The equipment is currently being buildat Boulting's dedicated Switchgear and Intelligent MCC manufacturing workshop at Penketh, Warrington.
