Since the RSA launched its accreditation scheme in October, Biffaward, which took part in the initial pilot project, is the second scheme to reach accreditation.
At present there are over 300 environmental and sustainability awards open to UK business, organisations and individuals. Such a variety in the scope and quality of awards can leave entrants and sponsors unsure as to which to apply for. The RSA has launched the first independent accreditation scheme for environmental awards to set a standard by which the quality of award schemes can be assessed and rewards those, which fulfil the set criteria. Its aim is to improve the design, operation, efficacy and transparency of award schemes and give entrants and sponsors visibility of the highest quality schemes.
At the Biffaward Awards ceremony, held today at Londons Royal Institute of British Architects, Simon Fordham OBE, Head of Environment at the RSA, presented Biffaward Fund Manager, Vivienne O'Connor, with the accreditation.
