The Guilford Handcraft Center will celebrate the opening of its fourth Biennial Glass Show on Sunday, June 13, starting at 2PM.

Once again, this nationally juried show will bring the best in North American glass to the Center's Mill Gallery for six weeks. Open to North American glass artists in all media, including blown, bused, drawn, stained, etc., this promises to be a great show!

Artists from 15 states, from Arizona to Florida and Rhode Island to Washington, were selected from a much broader pool of applicants than previous years. Sally Prasch, an internationally recognized flame worker in both scientific and artistic fields, juried the show. Prasch has taught glassblowing for over 20 years at universities and at all the highly esteemed glass schools. She has also studied extensively with world-renowned instructors.

This show fulfills the Center's mission of bringing respected and emerging artists' work to Connecticut shoreline communities. Selected pieces run the gamut of contemporary and traditional techniques and re-enforce glass's dichotomous properties, its fragility versus its durability, its translucence versus its solidity and its ability to be at once clear and colorful. There will be a number of artists who have exhibited in these shows before, as well as newcomers too.
