The added value operation from Eccleston has moved into the Watson Street site. The new St Helens Automotive is housed in the former RP2 building which has been refurbished and fitted out with restrooms and offices.

Equipment was moved over from Eccleston at the end of July, ready to restart after the summer break. It is believed to be the first time that Pilkington Automotive and Building Products have shared a site in the UK.

The operation currently includes seven added value cells, supplying Landrover, Jaguar, Nissan and Aston Martin. "The fact that we are staying in St Helens means that our customers won't notice any change," said manufacturing site leader Ray Ashcroft.

"Logistically speaking, the move involves only very minor adjustments and we are all looking forward to working as St Helens Automotive in our new home."
