Presentations are invited for a solar glass workshop, to be held June 23, 2011, at the Marriott Baltimore in Baltimore, Md.

Sponsored by ASTM International Committee E44 on Solar, Geothermal and Other Alternative Energy Sources and the Glass Association of North American (GANA), the workshop will be held in conjunction with the June standards development meetings of Committee E44.

This one-day event will showcase presentations from the glass and glazing industry as well as the solar industry. Researchers, scientists and professionals (including architects, engineers, energy managers, urban planners and industry experts) are invited to submit papers for presentation. The following are possible topics that will be covered by this year’s workshop:

  • Evolving photovoltaic and solar technologies and projects;

  • New technologies in glass and solar modules;

  • Effects of solar glass integration on building codes;

  • Current standards under development for solar glass and testing methods;

  • PV module life and performance expectations;

  • Strength, durability and reliability;

  • Different equipment and technologies;

  • Emerging technologies to help bring buildings into the net zero energy era;

  • Building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV);

  • Photovoltaics (PV);

  • Crystalline products;

  • Thin film technologies (CdTe, CIGS, other?);

  • Concentrated solar power (CSP);

  • Concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) technologies; and

  • Case studies.

Interested participants must submit a 250-300 word abstract via e-mail to workshop chair Urmilla Sowell by March 31, 2011. Abstract submitters will be notified of their acceptance for presentation by April 11.
