Asahi Glass Co said Wednesday it chalked up a record-high group net profit of 78.29 billion yen on sales of 1,475.73 billion yen, also a record-high, in the business year to Dec 31, 2004.
The strong earnings reflect an expansion of its business operations in rapidly growing markets for glass substances used in flat panel displays and electronic materials for digital home appliances, said the biggest glass maker in Japan.Pretax profit came to 135.69 billion yen, also an all-time high.
