Asahi Glass of Japan has announced plans to establish a new firm in Suzhou, China, that will operate an automotive glass factory

Almost USD100 million will be sunk into the project, officials said. The decision partly stems from the conversion of a float furnace for automotive glass at the firms Aichi factory in Japan to PDP glass substrates in May 2004 and partially from a desire to tap China's booming auto sector.

The new company will be formed next month and begin prouduction in the second quarter of 2006.Almost USD100 million will be sunk into the project, officials said.
