ASAHI GLASS CO. expects to book a record operating profit of 135 billion yen (US$1.3 billion) for the year ending Dec. 31.
In July this year, it started supplying sixth-generation LCD glass substrates to SHARP CORP.
* This will help Asahi Glass post a 71 billion yen operating profit, accounting for more than half the group profit
* Sales of glass are expanding for highly profitable items such as those used for automobiles and construction.
