November 6, 2012 – Research Frontiers’ (Nasdaq: REFR) SPD-SmartGlass will be featured at the New England Museum Association’s (NEMA) 2012 Annual Conference being held November 7-9, 2012 in Burlington, Vermont.The Small Corporation (booth #46) will demonstrate a display case equipped with SPD-SmartGlass, LED lighting, manual and motion activation, and auto-darkening functionality.
In museums, corporate galleries and private collections, artifacts such as works on paper, textiles and paintings are at risk of irreversible damage caused by excessive exposure to visible and ultraviolet light. SPD-SmartGlass instantly switches between its visible light-blocking and light-transmissive states, and it rejects 99% of harmful UV light at all times. Because of these unique characteristics, display cases and frames made with SPD-SmartGlass can limit an artifact’s light-exposure to those times when people want to view it. This protects the artifact from excessive light exposure and preserves its integrity and value, while still providing satisfying viewing experiences.
In an April news release, it was announced that the Brooklyn Museum is using artifact-protecting exhibit cases made with SPD-SmartGlass in its new “Connecting Cultures: A World in Brooklyn” exhibition.
