Artist Stan Price called it an honor to be the featured artist at Saturday's H'Arts benefit auction. Price's salmon-based painted glass plates are the centerpieces for the auction and inspired this year's theme, "Hooked on Art." "It's a great opportunity for a great cause," Price said.

"It's something that a good portion of the community will be involved in and it's an opportunity to not only contribute to a good cause but put your best foot forward and your best work out in front of everybody."

Price, owner of Covenant Glass on Broadway in Everett, was the Artist of the Year for 2006. His salmon platters were just the kind of centerpiece the Arts Council of Snohomish County wanted for its annual fundraiser auction, which is in its 25th year and is taking place at Everett Events Center.

The platters are beautiful icons of the Pacific Northwest and also functional.

"So when the people take them home, they are not only a centerpiece, they can serve salmon on salmon," Price said.

The arts council's H'Arts auction will probably draw up to 350 people for a formal sit-down dinner. H'Arts translates to helping the arts, and each year, the arts council holds the auction to give money back to artists in the community and to promote art education and other art-related projects.
