Lliam was given the award for a pioneering Contractor Control System which he designed and developed with the help of Tony Pawinski, Allied's Head of Engineering, to ensure the safety of all those working on site during Allied’s recent £3 million expansion of the company’s glass colouring facility at the Knottingley site.The system, which works at all the company's facilities, records when contractors are on site and where they are working, meaning at the click of a button the Allied Project Team are able to ascertain exactly who is working on site. The system also documents who each contractor works for and highlights if they had provided both risk assessments and method statements for the job they are undertaking.The system was also used to control each contractors health and safety methods on site. Everyone working on the project is issued with a pass with their photograph on. These passes integrated a colour coded system which highlights each contractor’s health and safety status, if they are recorded using poor procedures their colour status on the pass is changed and a warning issued.
