The furnace will be rebuilt incorporating new technologies focused on energy efficiency and environmental performance. The plant is taking the opportunity of this decreased activity to set up a special training programme for its employees mainly oriented towards the development of technical skills including increased safety.
The service to customers is guaranteed by the production capacities of the group’s other float glass production lines elsewhere in Europe.
The temporary shutdown of this furnace was planned as part of the furnace rebuilding programme, and will also contribute to reducing glass capacity in Europe during the period of economic downturn.

AGC Flat Glass Europe in Moustier: the largest float glass production unit in the world, with four furnaces producing raw glass and pyrolytic coated glass. The plant employs 730 people and its products are exported all over the world.
