AGC Glass Europe, the leading European glass manufacturer, has acquired 70% of the shares in FGT Polska, a key player in architectural glass in Poland. Fassaden Glas Technik-Polska (FGT) is a producer of high-end architectural glass components for the building projects market.

The company operates one of the largest glass bending furnaces in Europe besides producing double glazing as well as tempered and laminated safety glass for building applications. It is located in Ozorkow, in the centre of Poland, and employs 90 people.

By joining forces, AGC and FGT will strengthen their position on the growing construction market in Central Europe, particularly in Poland. Poland was indeed the only European country to post a positive GDP growth in 2009. The company is likely to benefit from the strong development of commercial buildings and hotels in view of the upcoming UEFA Euro 2012.

“This alliance opens new prospects for AGC in Poland by combining a state-of-the-art processing plant with our wide range of architectural glass” says Jean-Luc Batkin, Vice President, Solar & Processed Glass of AGC Glass Europe.

“With AGC as an industrial and commercial partner to support our growth on this highly demanding architectural glass market, FGT will expand its development and customer service,” says Friedrich Langenbach, General Manager of FGT.
