AGC (Asahi Glass Co., Ltd.; Head Office: Tokyo; President & COO Kazuhiko Ishimura) has donated some laminated anti-disaster glass to Taketoyo Elementary School in Taketoyo-cho, Aichi Prefecture.

This laminated glass does not shatter into small pieces even in the event of an earthquake or typhoon, and prevents children and evacuees from been injured by pieces of broken glass.Because it has these properties, schools that are actively working out measures against potential disasters have begun to use it. In the Tokai region, where Taketoyo Elementary School is located, a strong earthquake is predicted to occur in the near future, and the use of laminated glass, with its high disaster-prevention performance, is expected to guarantee the safety and security of children and local residents.

Prior to the donation, AGC held a donation presentation ceremony in Taketoyo Elementary School today in the presence of Yoshiteru Momiyama, Mayor of Taketoyo-cho, and Masanobu Sakakibara, Schoolmaster of Taketoyo Elementary School. The school, a designated shelter, has replaced the glass used in the gym (about 175 m² in total) with the laminated glass Lamisafe Security, and the glass in the front entrance door of the school building with the “on demand design” laminated glass Lamicolle, which has the design of the school badge.
