AFG Industries announced the introduction of Radiance-Ti™, a new self-cleaning glass that helps keep windows clean on the outside.

The new coated glass works by using the sun’s ultra violet energy to break down dirt and the sheeting properties of the coated glass make rain or a spray from a hose rinse the glass clean. The self-cleaning coating is ultra thin and durable allowing owners to have clear, clean windows with less work.

Radiance-Ti™ is also an energy efficient, solar control glass. The new product includes AFG’s proprietary self-cleaning hydrophilic sheeting capabilities, thanks to a new titanium oxide coating that is energized by the sun’s ultra violet light, combined with AFG’s Comfort Ti family of solar control low-e products.

"We believe that our customers will want to maintain their Energy Star programs while adding self-cleaning features to their windows and the Comfort Ti family of products was originally introduced to help homeowners combine maximum energy efficiency with high visible light transmission," notes D. Roger Kennedy, President and CEO of AFG Industries. "This new combination of self-cleaning glass and the spectrally selective Comfort Ti performance characteristics offers the commercial and the residential construction industry a unique glazing option."

Radiance-Ti™ will be available for sale in the first quarter of 2002 to North American glass consumers and available for use in homes and commercial buildings by spring of this year.
