ICG Summer School, 8th-12th July 2013. This workshop will overview key fundamentals in glass science with an emphasis on structure-property relationships and transport phenomena.

Each day will start with a talk on available measurement/simulation methodologies and their contribution to our understanding of glass structure and transport processes, both on different length scales and for a broad spectrum of inorganic glass-forming systems.

These lectures will underpin talks on properties and their structural dependence e.g. optical behaviour, viscosity and ageing, nucleation and crystallisation but also on chemical durability and corrosion.  In this 5th programme of the series, special attention will be given to formation, structure and transport properties in glasses. The lectures will be presented by world leading experts in their fields. A significant aspect of the workshop will be student-centred projects that encourage interactive learning and help you to develop your understanding by applying what you have learned to specific issues.

The course is designed for new PhD students or for young researchers who have recently started research in the glass industry. Cost to be €500 including lunches, opening reception and Thursday evening dinner, but with a discount of €250 for bona fide students. Additionally to offer student accommodation including breakfast at €250 (prepaid) for those wishing to take it. Participants will be limited to 50. To register an interest in attending please contact: verres2013@mycema.fr
