2009 Pilkington Arkwright Scholarships Awarded

Beatrice Gibaud from St Edward's College Liverpool, and Thomas Yaxley from Arnold School, Blackpool, are this year’s Pilkington Arkwright Scholars.

Both scholars earned outstanding results in their GCSEs. Beatrice, whose interests outside of school, include sport, design and drama, is hoping to pursue a career in Product or Industrial Design. Thomas's career ambition is to work in Mechanical, Chemical and Electrical Engineering.  The Arkwright Scholarship scheme was founded in 1991 to identify young innovators and encourage students to continue with subjects which lead to a career in engineering. Winners of the 2006 and 2007 Pilkington Arkwright Scholarships have gone on to study Physics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, at Imperial College London, Liverpool and Newcastle Universities.Beatrice Gibaud from St Edward's College Liverpool, and Thomas Yaxley from Arnold School, Blackpool, are this year’s Pilkington Arkwright Scholars.
