In the 60s, Allmetal found a niche in the growing market of air spacers for the Insulated Glass industry and eventually it became its main focus, leading the company to exit the weatherstrip market entirely.

The 70s and 80s were the booming years in terms of growth and four facilities were opened.

In 1979, Allmetal became the first company to bring together roll-forming and laser welding, introducing the laser-welded air spacer and so fulfilling the market request for a stronger and more resilient product.

In 1989, Allmetal expanded the product line to stainless steel air spacers, considered among the best in the industry thanks to thermal qualities and longevity without outgassing.
To control its own tooling requirements and improve turnaround time, cost, and quality to the customer, Allmetal opened its own Tooling and Design Division, evidence of the company ability to design and manufacture products to provide superior solutions to customers’ manufacturing requirements.

Today, Allmetal Inc. is recognized worldwide for its laser-welded air spacer and decorative products and components for the insulated glass and door industry. It runs five facilities around the US, plus a Tooling and Design Division in Wood Dale, Illinois and an Injection Molding facility in Bensenville, Illinois.

Products have changed and adapted over the years to suit customers’ changing tastes and demands, Allmetal has expanded its operations to Europe in 2000, opening its first European plant in Leipzig, Germany and, although air spacer has been the company mainstay, the production now includes a full line of innovative products for the budding decorative components market.
