The Shanghai World Financial Centre
|
The Shanghai World Financial Centre has restarted its projected construction as of Nov 17, 2005. This new skyscraper, located in the Pudong district, will be the tallest skyscraper in the world when it is built in 2008.

China`s tallest existing skyscraper, the Jin Mao Tower, which is located nearby in the Pudong district, will be succeeded by the Shanghai World Financial Centre as the tallest building in China, which will also win the title of the highest on this planet when construction is completed in 2008.
The building project was first started in 1997 but was then suspended during the Asian financial crisis. Eight years later this project is proceeding again as of Nov 17, 2005, though the original design has been modified.
A four-sided slot through the tower's peak has been adopted in the final confirmed design instead of the 50-meter-wide circular hole in the previous blueprint. This 101-story tower will be constructed at the high speed of four and a half days per storey. It is estimated that it will be finished in 2008.
The total investment for this tallest skyscraper in the world will be 1.1 billion USD.
