Europe's Tallest Skyscraper
|
The Federazija (federation) tower will reach a height of 340 meters when completed in 2007. The futuristic, glass-clad building will house offices, a hotel and luxury apartments in the middle of the Moscow City business center. The project will cost about 390 million Euros.
|
The Federation Complex will include two asymmetrical glass towers - with a tapering central spire - designed by German architects Peter Schweger of ASP Schweger Assoziirte Gesamtplanung GmbH (Hamburg) and Sergei Tchoban of nps tchoban voss (Berlin).
"The needle, with its panoramic elevators, will be the dynamic center of the complex," Tchoban said.
The buildings, which will be sail-shaped, are emblematic of the construction boom, which has transformed Moscow's skyline in recent years (the city administration plans to build 200 skyscrapers by 2015).
The Federation Complex will be a mini-city with all kinds of services. The higher of the two towers will have 87 storeys. A panoramic elevator will rise through a 20 meter high aquarium, a concept derived from Tchoban?s earlier design for AquaDom in Berlin.
