Chinese Glass Industry

China's rapidly increasing demand for glass was stimulated by its two-decade high economic growth, especially the continuously rising demand in the automobile and construction markets

A country that is showing great vitality and fast economic growth. China entered into the WTO, Beijing will host the 2008 Olympic Games and the World Expo 2010 will be held in Shangai: numerous events have accelerated the swift development of Chinese glass industry.

The Chinese authorities said that the economy has grown by 9.5% in 2004. The China's demand for glass has considerably increased as well, and the Chinese glass industry has risen consequently. The total flat glass demand will increase 11.5% annually to 360 million weight cases in the year 2005.

In the next five years, both production and demand will continue to grow. The Chinese automobile industry will increase its demand for glass and will lead the industry in growth. The Chinese construction industry will remain the largest market for glass. Insiders forecast that the architectural and automotive glass market can rise by 10 per cent every year.
