What do you think about glasstec 2004?
|
1,080 exhibitors and 170 associations, 65,800 m2, 54,000 visitors (around 60% of whom were not German) from 81 countries: glasstecs numbers are indeed positive. The comments GlassOnWeb.com has collected are generally very favourable, too. Here are some authoritative opinions.

"glasstec 2004 has been an excellent exhibition and has shown that there is a global recovery in the glass industry. The attendance was high and qualified. We met people from all over the world; however from some countries we received less visitors than expected. During each day of the show we had many contacts, which brought immediate results and gave us confidence in the future. We exhibited a laminated glass production line, which was the only one of its kind at glasstec, and we are satisfied with the feedback we get from the glass sector."

?glasstec 2004 has been the most succesful exhibition for Bystronic in many years. The quantity and the quality of the visitors at our booth was extremely high. The 5 daily presentations of our machinery attracted a lot of attention. Most of our visitors came from foreign countries. We can hardly exaggerate the fact that glasstec in Düsseldorf is still and will be the no. 1 exhibition for the glass industry.?

?Wings of Venice, a sculptural, monumental and conceptual Project exhibited in our stand, has been a great success and a huge number of visitors admired the art of Murano glass masters. The major novelty we displayed was the For.El. Super Spacer automatic applicator, a machinery that received much attention.?

"Glasstec 2004 proved very successful for Glasstech, Inc... Visitors from our three major territories, the Americas, Europe/Africa and Asia/Pacific were all very positive about the future and expressed a high degree of interest in both Automotive and Architectural glass bending and tempering systems. Requests for quotation from European visitors exceeded expectation. The weak dollar is very helpful in countries whose currency is not tied to the dollar. Because of the number of low-priced electrical flat glass tempering systems being offered, we were very pleased to differentiate Glasstech with our gas-fired forced convection systems which offer excellent value propositions, especially with the increased demand for systems capable of processing the high performance low-e coatings. There was also continued strong demand for Glasstech?s automotive systems since they are seen as the industry standard for quality Original Equipment applications. Finally, we were pleased to have our location close to our partner Vesuvius which proved to be very convenient for Glasstech?s customers."

?In comparison to previous editions, we noticed that there were more visitors who were really interested and fewer onlookers. Another point which is extremely positive is that we acquired some new clients, in addition to reinforcing pre-existing relationships. However I think that it will be possible to evaluate this edition better after a longer period."

?Sekisui S-LEC was pleased with the responses and inquiries it got from business contacts from the automotive industry as well as customers from the glass industry for the next generation of 3 layer products launched at the 2004 glasstec.?

"glasstec 2004 was the best-attended, most impressive show yet. It was particularly successful for Strainoptics because of the interest in our products spurred by the new compulsory standards recently enacted for testing toughened and heat-strengthened architectural glass. For most types of building glass, our GASP polarimeter is considered an accepted, non-destructive alternative to the series of destructive tests now required for EC marking. Major European glass manufacturers, and those serving the European market, are planning multiple corporate GASP purchases for their fabricating operations next year so they don't have to purchase expensive and wasteful destructive testing equipment in order to satisfy the new requirements.?

?We can consider the 2004 edition of glasstec very successful. Considering the current economic situation, the results we?ve had during and immediately after the fair are satisfying both from a qualitative and a quantitative point of view. Almost all the visitors we met at our booth were competent and sincerely interested in our products, so we?ve had the possibility to widen our clientele.?

?Noticeably fewer visitors overall than we are used to seeing at the glasstec shows of the past 16 years. However there were important decision-makers amongst those that did come to the show, and we are optimistic about good volumes of new business. European visitors were outnumbered by those from North America, Asia and Australasia. German enquiries were less than ever before. Ashton's newest generation of automatic arrissing (seaming) line with vacuum belt hold-down and a cycle time of under 8 seconds, including arrissing, edge deletion, laser marking and washing, was a huge success.?

"This was our second time exhibiting at glasstec and we were keen to build on past success, to raise our brand awareness and make contact with both existing and new partners. Having generated a record number of enquiries from 54 countries, we achieved our aim."

?Being specialised in the engineering, fabrication and installation of platinum systems, we do not look mainly for new business opportunities at glasstec: It is a traditional appointment to meet our customers and to talk about future projects. 2004?s has been an interesting exhibition; it has been better then the previous one.?

?One of our reasons for participating in glasstec 2004 was to launch our new automatic glass screen printing machine ESC-ATMATIC GQ. We have been impressed by the great number of visitors which mainly came from abroad. We were able to establish some important contacts and are certain that our new, high-capacity machine will conquer a strong market position in the glass printing sector.?

"glasstec 2004 has been a positive edition. European visitors were indeed numerous, especially from Eastern Europe. I noticed that there was lower attendance from North America and the Far East. I fear that this is a trend we should get used to. I particulary appreciated the quality of the visitors: in the last few years professionalism has increased in the glass sector. You understand it when you talk to glasstec attendees. The most important fact is the confirmation that glass is a material characterised by great technological developments and that there are many new potential uses. Innovation and technology are two keys to keep the glass industry in good health.?

?Our booth was always well attended and we met international business people from all over the world. We spoke to top managers and decision-makers alike who were especially interested in our new and further developments of glass production equipment. New contracts worth 7.5 milllion ? were concluded. glasstec is on a good road and we certainly consider participation a must.?

?Visitors were very interested and impressed by the use of laser in longitudinal glass cutting. This method leads to far less tension in the glass ribbon and a much higher breaking strength.?

"The glasstec 2004 trade fair gave us good opportunities to present our newly defined product- and service portfolio for insulating glazing. I am really satisfied with the trade fair - our booth motto ?The security of a strong brand? received excellent feedback. Not only the security of top quality products and services, but also the security of Henkel guaranteeing that, in insulating glass markets, the brand Teroson® stands for innovation and continuity.?

"For Intermac the 2004 edition of the glasstec show has been extremely successful. The stand was packed with brand new technologies that captured the interest of our visitors. There has been a considerable number of high quality contacts. Asia did confirm its positive momentum, while Eastern Europe and the Middle East were far better than our expectations. All in all we see this year?s glasstec as an excellent starting point for a 2005 of growth.?

"Overall attendance has not significantly increased, however the quality of the visitors has improved remarkably. We are satisfied with the number of contacts, as well as with the contracts we have concluded. Having exhibited the biggest glass in the world (3210 x 7000 mm), the sales of tempering furnaces - for flat glass and for flat and curved glass (the well-known KBKO furnaces) - have been very successful. As far as serigraphy is concerned, contacts and contracts have been very good, too. It seems that there is an improvement after the recession of the last two years. Everybody hopes that this is not only a temporary signal and that it will be followed by recovery. A very positive fact is that traditional glass factories are trying to diversify their products in order to give them higher value. This means that products have important technological characteristics and great performance in terms of quality. This is a philosophy that is in complete accordance with Keraglass? mission, which is aimed at finding new solutions to create high quality products at low cost."

?We were expecting more visitors, because a year and a half had passed since the last Vitrum and that show, which had benn held in an unfavourable period, had not registered a huge attendance either. Evidently, the crisis of Germany?s economy has reduced the overall attendance. However, we noticed that there were more international and qualified visitors, so we can say we are satisfied.?

?Visitors to Ritec?s stand at the recent glasstec exhibition in Düsseldorf, Germany, were particularly intrigued to see the new innovative Revolution? spraying application machine which was on exhibit for the first time. The Ritec stand, which was designed with the ?clean living? theme in mind, was continuously busy throughout the show. Managing Director Stephen Byers says, With a slogan like ?clean living?, we had to make sure that the stand was not cluttered, so we had plenty of open space and a feeling of cleanliness and well-being. glasstec was a great chance to demonstrate our latest developments and technical advances to the ClearShield system. It allowed us to show how we are growing worldwide, and we were able to communicate that we don?t simply supply product ? we are also about supplying a service and supporting our customers.
Ritec?s joint venture company, Bohle ClearShield, formed earlier this year with Bohle AG for the European market, created interest, and there were visitors from throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Such an international exhibition enables us to gather and exchange information, as well as networking generally with people from around the world, says Stephen. glasstec also provides the perfect opportunity for us to spend time with our partners and to discuss new technologies in line with global market trends.?

?According to Mr. Messmer, our Sales Manager Industrial Screen Printing Machines, it was one of our most successful glasstec shows. Thieme and Schott AG have collaborated to develop a new digital computer-to-glass (CTG) printing process that makes it possible to print individual glass surfaces economically using ceramic ink. Thieme gave visitors their first look at CTG with a single-colour test installation and the interest was huge. Our business management is highly pleased with the glasstec 2004 and looks forward to a promising business year.?

?TruSeal was pleased by the continuing trend at glasstec of more attendees from other parts of the world. As we have increased our presence in Asia Pacific, South East Asia and the Middle East, we are encouraged to see attendees from these regions coming to glasstec in greater numbers. This reinforces our belief that this is the premiere show worldwide for the glass industry and an excellent forum to demonstrate our spacer and equipment designs.?

"My opinion is indeed positive: in comparison to all the other recent editions, glasstec 2004 has been the best one. The most important fact is that there are several different areas of the world which are developing and keen on investing. There are reasons to be optimistic, but moderately optimistic, as many problems of the European economy, and particularly of the Italian economy, are still unsolved. As far as our products are concerned, we have prepared this show accurately and we have been rewarded. Our horizontal washing machine called MODULO ONE has been successful in all the fields related to flat glass washing. Let?s continue in this direction and prepare ourselves for Vitrum in Milan."

?glasstec 2004 has been a very positive edition for the Glaston Technology Company ( Z.Bavelloni and Tamglass). We noted great interest in our well-known products, as well as in new machinery like the vertical drilling machine, the new ALPA N range and other important innovations. A new cutting table range, which is called REV and has a very innovative technology (just ?REVolutionary?), has had great success. Thus we can say that glasstec 2004 was more positive than all the other recent editions of the show.?
