Robotics in glass

Given that companies are beginning to realize the benefits of robotics, rapid growth is expected in the industry over the next several years. Robots are used to increase productivity and improve product quality since they work faster and with greater consistency than a human operator.

Today?s robotic cells in glass manufacturing and processing can perform different operations. They can unload flat glass with a gripping system that automatically adjusts to variable sizes of glass sheets. More advanced work cells can also utilise an advanced web inspection technology to identify marks, cracks and breaks in a fraction of a second. The major benefits of this system are that it minimizes handling by production workers and allows manufacturers to check the size and quality of each glass sheet, thus ensuring less breakage.
